More and more British homes are in danger of falling into disrepair as Brits are delaying much needed renovation work in an effort to save money.
With the news today that around 200,000 households could face problems insuring their properties due to flood risks, house hunters may be thinking that waterside living should be avoided at all costs. Not so. Insurance is assessed on a case by case basis and the vast majority of waterside properties will be unaffected.
Bogus insurance claims increased by almost 10% between 2009 and 2010 according to new statistics.
Figures released by the Association of British Insurers show that 133,000 fraudulent claims were made. Almost half of the claims related to home insurance and 40,000 claims relating to car insurance were also made.
